Who we are

Coating Inspector is developed and operated by Austenite Pty Ltd ("we", "us"). This policy describes how the Coating Inspector app (iOS, Android and web) and this website handle your information.

Information we collect

Account details — email address and authentication credentials when you create an account or sign in.
Content you create — inspection sessions, test readings, photos, notes and reports. This stays on your device and is synchronised to the cloud only when you sign in and enable sync.
Study progress — question attempts, scores, bookmarks and favourites used to track your exam preparation.
Location & weather — if you grant location access, coordinates are used to stamp inspection photos and fetch on-site weather conditions for your records.
Usage analytics — app version, device type and feature-usage events, used to improve reliability and functionality.

How we use your information

To operate the app: authentication, cloud sync across your devices, report generation and subscription entitlement.
To improve the app through aggregated analytics.
For marketing of our own apps and services — for example, informing you about new features, apps or offers from us.

What we don't do

We do not share your information with third parties. Your data is not sold, rented or disclosed to advertisers or data brokers.
We do not show third-party advertising in the app.

Infrastructure providers (cloud hosting, storage, analytics and payment processing) process data only on our behalf to run the service — they are service providers, not recipients of your data for their own use.

Storage, offline use & data loss

The app is offline-first: your work is stored locally on your device and synchronised to our cloud when you are signed in and online. While we take reasonable steps to safeguard synced data, we accept no responsibility or liability for any loss of data stored in or synced by the app — including loss caused by device failure, uninstalling the app, sync conflicts, account deletion or service interruption. You are responsible for keeping your own copies of critical records, for example by exporting your reports.

Payments

Purchases are processed by the Apple App Store, Google Play or Stripe. We never see or store your full payment card details.

Your choices

Core features work without an account.
Camera and location permissions can be revoked in your device settings at any time.
You can request deletion of your account and synced data by contacting us.
